We’ve embraced the idea of escaping from urban chaos, and embracing “Human-Scale Living”. This is about surrounding yourself with beauty and peace, and nice flavors and textures.
It’s about having beautiful flowers around, and living in a little sustainable bubble. We believe in small scale farming, shop in the places where peoples’ names are on the door, and showing up to the High School Play.
There are a few places in the world where you can still do that.
Living Local
We get into Madison all the time, take bike trips and the walking tour, and explore the local restaurants and venues. It is a little, human-scale living town perfect for exploring. We’re also proficient cooks, and are always exploring flavors from near or far as part of what we do. Hey, we even make our own, if at all possible. We’ve done home made everything and we love to share.
We also give to the local charities, and try to help people when we can.

Characters and Local Weirdness
This is one of those places where it is still okay to be a little weird, and in fact that’s part of the human-scale charm. We are always running into characters, and stories, and have captured some of them in our blogs.
Human-Scale Living: Makerspace
We appreciate human effort in all of its forms because we’ve expended so much of it, making the Firefly what it is. As a result, we do a lot of projects to make what we could have otherwise bought. We love everybody but we are always doing projects to build things, because it adds a little bit to the story. There is a story about every rock, tree, contraption and bump in the driveway.
