Just a few recent reviews from our airbnb site:

You will not find a better host! The location and atmosphere was perfect. Ellie suggested a local restaurant that was a great hit as well. We will definitely return.

We enjoyed our stay at Ellie’s home. Ellie is warm and friendly and goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. We enjoyed visiting with her on the front porch after our activities in Madison and found our way back to the porch again after dark to enjoy a glass of wine under the stars. Breakfast was delicious, especially the Belgian waffles. We always miss our dogs when we travel. Ellie’s dog, Posh gave us the “dog fix” that we needed.

Ellie is a very friendly host. She gave us all kind of helpful information and treated us like family. The house is cute and the breakfast was great.

An amazing hostess and a fantastic bed and breakfast!! Ellie went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and even had a fire started when we arrived as a sweet welcome! Great breakfast, amazing accommodations and a fabulous hostess!

Ellie is a very gracious host with a beautiful home. Expect active communication and top notch hospitality. We loved playing with the chickens and the cats, and the wood burning fireplace was a huge bonus. Ellie even helped us set up an arts and crafts project in her living room! We had some initial problems when we learned the guest house wouldn’t be ready for our arrival, but Ellie put a lot of effort so that we were comfortable in her main house instead. My parents, husband, and I all loved our stay!

What We Are

Visit the Firefly and sit in this chair, and look at the world passing by

The Firefly at Madison is a 1939-vintage country farmhouse. When you visit the Firefly, you can explore our arches and pergolas, old brick and stonework, a tumbling waterfall with ivy framed ponds, and mossy paths through the woods. It’s a place of peace away from all the noise of bustling everyday existence.

Why We Are

When you visit the Firefly, your only job is to reconnect with what’s meaningful to you and disconnect from what’s not. Feel free to stay barefoot all day, curl up with a book on the big rocking chair southern porch, drink fresh mint tea in the garden if that’s what you want to do. Make memories with special people, take a bike ride, have a picnic, lie around in a hammock, paint a picture, assemble a scrapbook, clear your mind and write a chapter or two of your story. Come “home” to a lovely fire under the stars, fairy lights and fireflies,

Where We Are

The Firefly’s central location is in the rolling countryside near historic and friendly Madison, Georgia. It’s the perfect base for exploring this rich, amazing part of the country. There are four mild seasons…  beautiful colonial, antebellum and victorian architecture, cotton fields, orchards, horses, cows and even alpacas. After you visit the firefly, you can visit the town, with its picket fences, antique shops, local art, music, and frequent small town festivals . Our favorite is the end of summer Firefly Festival!. Yes, there are fireflies.

Is it about time for a girls’ weekend, couples, family get together, moms and daughters, a romantic weekend away? How about a Georgia Bulldog football weekend (we are 40 minutes from Athens) or the Masters golf tournament? (just an hour from Augusta National) or fun at Lake Oconee (30 minutes to Greensboro). There are a number of wedding venues and event centers in the area for an intimate or informal special celebration.

The Firefly Destination

The Firefly Studio is a great space to take a watercolor class or just for fun painting party. You can plan an activity with friends and a little guidance from local artists and crafts people. The Firefly is a sunny creative space to paint, write, create, and make things. Play with with friends and family, dream up your visions and goals. Think clearly without a ton of distractions. Do the projects you’ve always wished to try…if you can show us what you want to do, we can make it happen. We have done preserved boxwood and magnolia wreath workshops, pinterest crafts, chalk painted furniture. Our beautiful grounds is a pefect place for kids birthday painting parties . Have your baby shower, do scrapbook pages, and use this as a creative space. We can help. Just ask!
